What We Collect
When you submit our quote request form, we collect your name, phone number, the service you need, your property address and postcode, and optionally your email address and any details you choose to give us about your boiler or heating system.
When you call us, we collect your phone number and, if you leave a voicemail, a recording of that message. Voicemail messages are automatically transcribed into text so that we can respond quickly, and the transcription is sent to our own email address. We do not record live calls.
When you browse this website, our hosting provider automatically logs technical information including your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. This is standard server logging and we do not use it to identify individuals.
Why We Collect It and Our Lawful Basis
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to arrange a survey or appointment, to provide a quotation, and to carry out and document work you ask us to do.
Where you have submitted the quote form and ticked the consent box, our lawful basis is your consent. Where you have called us directly, our lawful basis is legitimate interests — specifically, responding to an enquiry you have chosen to make. Where we hold records relating to gas work carried out at your property, our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation, because gas safety and Building Regulations records must be retained.
Sharing Your Details With a Local Engineer
This is the most important disclosure in this policy, so we have given it its own section.
Boilers MK works with a local Gas Safe registered heating engineer or heating company who carries out the work. In order for your enquiry to be answered and the work to be quoted or completed, we pass your details — your name, phone number, property address and a description of what you need — to that engineer.
We do this only for enquiries you have actually made. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to multiple companies to bid against each other, and we do not add you to any marketing list. The engineer receiving your details is responsible, as an independent data controller, for how they handle your information from that point, including their own retention and security obligations.
If you would prefer to know who the engineer is before your details are passed on, say so when you contact us and we will tell you first.
